    THE VILLAGE’S OWN WEB SITE

The Village Voice Newsletter is our Community’s primary means of communication, and we intend to keep you informed on a regular basis of what’s going on in Garden Village and the surrounding residential areas.

We also want to build on the existing community spirit in the area – and make it even easier for everyone to communicate and join in with their opinions and ideas.

So what better than our very own Gosforth Garden Village Association website. You can now log on to www.ggva.org and register. Read the latest edition of the Newsletter; get details of Activities with dates and contact details; contribute to our Forum or Message Board; establish links with other members; even advertise your services!!

Please take the time to read a history of the Village written by Don McQueen (now sadly deceased).

    New Community Centre

A small group of people have come together to help establish a team to apply to the newly named Community Fund (Lottery/Lotto) for the funds to build a new Community Centre where the old Bowls Pavilion has stood for the last 75 years! (Rosewood Avenue).

Two applications for Lottery funding have already been made but were unsuccessful.

We estimate that a new purpose-built building will cost something of the order of £200,000, and we need to raise a percentage of the cost of the new building ourselves.

It’s an ambitious project but, if we’re successful, we will have the satisfaction of knowing that our new COMMUNITY CENTRE should remain a priceless asset, not only for our own enjoyment, but for the enjoyment of the future generation for at least the next 75 years!
